The Photos Untaken

tumble

Ahuva will tell you that I don’t stop the car to take photos, particularly now when I’m running around doing errands. I mean – I’m focused. OK?

But. This means there are images in my head that I would love to be able to share with you.

I went to Machias a few days ago to order the sofa and freezer and dishwasher (finally). It was a sunny day and the white church spires shone over the typical New England town, next to the river, with the autumn foliage filling up around it. It was a postcard scene, but there was traffic, and no place to park, and I didn’t get the shot. You will just  have to take my word for it.

You will also have to trust me when I tell you there are 3 pigs who nap in the sun next to the road here on the island. They live with (what reliable sources tell me are) chickens. These are the oddest looking birds I’ve ever seen close up – and when they’re milling around in the middle of the road you do see them close up. Movies and tv like to use scenes of sheep blocking traffic, they need to see these so-called chickens.

For personal reasons I have sworn to myself I will stop in Maine and get photos of a location called Diamond Point. For now, you’ll just have to believe it exists.

I’ll do better. Honest. Once the list of projects gets a teensy bit shorter.

The good news, I guess, is that the sunsets at home are still within cell phone camera range. 🙂
