Help is Always Appreciated

It’s the beginning of autumn. I know this because we’ve started having frost in the mornings, the deciduous trees on the route upriver are changing colour, and the rowan trees (mountain-ash) are covered in red berries.

I’m trying to accomplish all the stuff on my “getting ready for winter” list. Often that means adding to my next shopping list (Oh I need D-cell batteries for that sigh).

I’ve started sorting through clothes and summer “things” and cycling them upstairs while I bring down the cold weather supplies. This adds to the shopping list as well e.g., Find xxxx small dog sweater.

The car needs oil and wiper fluid – and new wipers. I’ll do that next week. I don’t know when, but I want to clean the upholstery etc., as well. I also really should shampoo the carpets.

One thing I did get done was shocking the well. Ahuva assures me I can add this to my resume. πŸ™‚ Help was needed getting the well cap off – and removing the filter casing. The combination of testosterone’s need to tighten-things-beyond-reasonable-just-to-prove-manhood and my still lagging upper-body strength means I couldn’t do it myself.

Somebody else helped. At least that’s what he said he was doing. πŸ™‚

  1. LOVE the seagull photo! And of course FISH was helping! I’m sure that somewhere in the “how to shock a well” instructions there was a big bold note about MAKE SURE THE WATER SUPPLY IS PROTECTED! Fish was guarding the water supply for you. πŸ™‚ What a cutie! Now that he is there maybe I’ll come visit you. At least HE won’t be hating on me for a transcontinental car ride.

    1. If you promise the cats you’ll protect them from the monster they won’t hate you either. πŸ™‚ The seagulls lift off every morning and head to the salmon cages – one of these days I’ll get a shot of them leaving my cove.
