Trade Off

I’m no expert, but when I see sea smoke (or vapour) in the Harbour I know it’s cold. It’s more common on the open water.

I didn’t actually need it yesterday to sense the temperature – it was our coldest day so far this winter.

On the plus side it means it was one of the prettiest. The huge volume of smoke/vapour merged with the clouds and created an other-worldly atmosphere.

This will be a photo-heavy post because, although I did cull a lot of shots, I couldn’t decide which of these to abandon.

We had a lot of wind overnight and that causes the smoke/vapour to coat trees and grasses.

It looks a lot like the effect of freezing rain but its more like they’ve been spray painted.

We’re warmer today which means snow showers. It also means I don’t have to spend quite so long putting on layers and dressing the monster disguised as a puppy. All the coats/sweaters are too big for him and he looks ridiculous.

Don’t tell him that though.

I spent much of the rest of the day working with a friend to cut and split some firewood. My sun porch is fully stocked again so Daisy is well fed.

I’m also ready for the next deep freeze. We haven’t had much snow this year but the wind and low temperatures are inevitable. Still, it’s pretty. 🙂
