Obviously Things Can and Will Change

I’m sitting outside on the front porch in the shade and will try to remember the sensations later when the excessive heat is over powering. Whatever the weather reporters say it is not in the 60sF (18 C) here. In those temperatures I don’t have gallons of sweat pouring off me when I take out the garbage.

There are bright spots during the week. More whales have arrived and that year old Right Whale is still playing in Friar’s Bay. I had to take the ferry to Deer Island and then immediately back the other day. S/he breached in front of us while I enjoyed the breeze.

I can tell it’s not as humid today because there’s no fog. It’s been ever present all week. Still fishermen have been working on boats, and twine, and weirs. (I’ve promised Ahuva I’ll do an explanation of the latter once my puter is fixed lol).

I think I told you that I’ve been quietly preparing for a hurricane. It is 2020 and the fates are unlikely to spare us anything this year. Well a weatherperson in Nova Scotia tweeted the current (and very preliminary) forecast path for Isaias this morning.

It follows the coast over Ahuva and then directly to us arriving tuesday night. I’m sure that will change frequently over the next few days.

We know the water is warmer than usual because fishermen take its temp frequently. Having seahorses show up is another clue. 🙂 Warmer water will mean the storms that do travel north will not lose strength as quickly as they usually would.

In the meantime there’s firewood to split, rugs to shampoo, books to read, and a small house elf masquerading as a dog who thinks I should throw balls all day long.

We’ll be fine. The Island has lived through storms before and will again. If it actually does hit us, and I go quiet for longer than usual, it will be a power problem. As my grandmother would say, Dinna fash yoursels 🙂
