By now you’d have expected to see multiple boats dragging for scallops or heading to a different location to try a new spot. However, the season is done for another year – at least around here.
The weather is warm – it’s hovering around freezing with occasional rain showers. It’s supposed to be like this for another few days – I’m sure we’ll pay for it. Weirdly we’re getting flash freezes at night which results in a lot of ice on porches and driveways. This has complicated an already stupid situation.
Being the graceful individual everybody knows, it might come as a shock to hear that I broke my foot a week or so ago. Not all of it – just enough that half of that extremity is darling shades of purple and if I use it too much it triples in size.
I haven’t been posting a lot lately because I’m trying to rest it and also because stuffing my foot into any of my boots does not have a positive result. In particular, my boots with the ice cleats (which seem to have gotten very narrow this year). The flash freezes mean that I have to wear them to take out garbage or bring in firewood. It’s just the price of not paying attention. 🙂
Speaking of stupid … I’ve figured out a way to keep the kitten off my keyboard while I edit photos and write these posts. I put catnip spray on some of the soft toys and while he obsesses on them I can get some work done.
Not too surprisingly the older cats can detect that smell in their sleep from the other side of the house. I spray a few more toys and all 3 of them get stoned while Fish tries to figure out what game they’re playing.
Oh, and speaking of stoned …
The other day I was down at Jacksons Breakwater and one of the young guys was enjoying some (perfectly legal) weed. [I wish I knew why it has to smell like skunk – it doesn’t seem to put them off though.]
The following conversation took place (with witnesses):
- Young Fellow to me: You should have some.
- Me: No thanks.
- Young Fellow: No really! It’ll do you good!
- Me: Honey, I lived through the 60s and 70s. I know exactly what it will do! 🙂
