In spite of the rain there is still snow on the ground. Our “OMG it’s almost Spring” temperatures have disappeared and the cold has returned. This means that the mud has solidified again. 🙂
I’ve included a few pics from last week to show you the logs littering the Cove – although most of them have been swept out into the Bay, the view of the old wharf at high tide, and the stuff remaining at low. I assume they’re coming back to clean up but that’s probably just hopeful thinking.
There is some debate about whether or not I’m now allowed to drive again. The doctors said 6 to 8 weeks which meant I focused on the “6”. Certain people in my life are fixated on the “8”.
As it happens I wound up driving a friend upriver to the hospital last week. I was tired when I got back, but nowhere near as wiped out as I was in December and January after similar trips. So, I’m not only stronger than I was right after the surgery – I’m in better shape than I was before. Um, I guess that was the point. *grin*
This brings me to the title of this post. You see ever since I got back people have been telling me how good I look. Even complete strangers (they all know who I am, I seem to have a relatively low upper limit for facial recognition) have been saying this.
This had me really bewildered. I mean I just got out of the hospital. Maybe they expected me to look worse than I do. I finally asked one of the nurses at the local Clinic when she said exactly the same thing.
It turns out that they’re comparing me to what I looked like before the surgery. I didn’t realize it at the time but I looked very pale and tired. The pale part doesn’t surprise me – I’ve been pasty white all my life. Even with a tan I was pale. The only time I really didn’t look like white bread was when I got a good sunburn – I’m not sure burgundy is something anybody should adopt though.
These days I actually have colour in my face. Nothing outrageous you understand, just a shade that would be considered normal for anybody else. This was unexpected. It’s a whole new look for me. Cool!
Oh and there’s ice in the water but it and some random feathers make pretty patterns. 🙂
Thanks for the great post & updates with pictures ,,,Spring is near ! ,,Lata,Dar …..
